Photo Finish

Limestone grotesques, alumni-sponsored replacements for weather-weary originals, are now on view in the Natural History Museum’s Panorama gallery, awaiting their perches atop Dyche Hall. A century of deterioration claimed countless details on Joseph Roblado Frazee’s whimsical menagerie (issue No. 6, 2017), so, before putting chisel to stone, sibling sculptors Karl, ’82, and Laura Ramberg, f’81, first filled gaps in the fossil record, as it were, with their own freehand sketches and digital modeling assistance from architecture faculty Keith, a’04, and Amy Van de Riet, a’03, and students in their historic preservation class.
