“Searching for La Yarda,” a short film by Marlo Angell, ’17, and Lourdes Kalusha-Aguirre, tells the story of a largely forgotten East Lawrence enclave that for decades housed families of Mexican American railroad workers. The film preserves precious details of daily life at La Yarda as shared by surviving community members, who still carry fond memories of their tight-knit childhood home since its mid-century abandonment.
